About this event

Gathering to learn, practice, share, and prepare for the coming school year with DEIJ-informed pedagogical and diversity-responsive pedagogy

Join us for four sessions with experienced Waldorf Early Childhood teachers and practiced storytellers, and learn to craft tales that nourish and reflect your students. Space is limited to allow for small-group work and deep discussion.

Session One
Beyond Multiculturalism in Storytelling: Weaving the Threads of Our Current Times with Imagination
with special guest Nancy Blanning

Session Two
I See You: Representation in Storytelling & Meeting Each Child in Our Care
, with special guests Aimee deNey & Celestine Stadnick

Session Three
More than Madder Root: Workshopping Our Stories & Case Studies
, with special guest Melody Birdsong-Shubert

Session Four
Once Upon a Time: Finding Our Voices & Creating Tales for a Future That Offers Authentic Images for Every Child
, with special guest Keelah Helwig

Participants will:

  • Learn DEIJ-informed pedagogical storytelling theory, principles & tools

  • Receive mentorship from experienced Early Childhood educators

  • Practice and share together in small groups, working from both case studies and personal experience

  • Leave with an Alma Partners Toolkit for continued practice

When:

  • Four virtual sessions on Zoom

  • A cohorted workshop series that meets the third Sunday of the month, for four months

  • July 17, Aug 21, Sept 18, Oct 16

  • Sunday afternoons, on Zoom, from 3:30-5:30 EST / 12:30-2:30 PST

Cost:

  • $500 - $1,000 sliding scale.

  • Includes four, two-hour sessions together over four months, and a printable toolkit from Alma Partners for continued practice and skill-building beyond the completion of the course.

  • Please plan to attend all four sessions.
